what price for this engine?

A friend of mine is after a 1.6 16v Ecotec engine, he has all the injection and ecu parts etc., just needs the actual block part of the engine(great description I know! :lol: )

anyone know how much it is likely to be for this? it's to replace the one that hs blown in his Astra 16v sport.

Im after the same thing John.

Its difficult to say as most people wopnt just sell the block as would prefer to sell the complete engine.

If he finds someone willing to sell it he could pay around ?100 but for the whole engine he is looking at from ?350-500 depending if its off a Scrapo yard or a private seller.

sounds good, if you manage to find 1 and you dont want to hold onto it, I know he will be interested.

I'll give a few scrapyards a call today I think.

ps, what is the engine code I am asking for??? is it c16 something???

Seeing as you want the bottom end only you can ask for the following codes...

C16 XE (pre ecotec corsa GSi)
X16 XE (Tigra/Corsa GSi ecotec)
X16 XEL (Astra/Vectra ecotec's)

But there is no reason why any of these couldnt be used.

i know where their is a 1600 16v vectra engine for ?200. it's at a scrapyard in derby called albert looms. have a look in the yellow pages. if you cant find the number i've got it somewhere.
