I have a 1.2i tank at the moment.

What tank do i need to run my 1.6 T40's engine ??

Can i just disconnect my fuel pump on the 1.2i tank or do i need another one??

Cheers

not sure on this one, i assume the 1.2 pump is mounted in tank :S and also being single point not as fierce as the gte pump. i had a gte setup which runs a good amount of pressure along the lines of 38psi or summin stupid and at first did regulate it down to the 2.5/3.5 psi area and it seemed fine for a while before i upgraded.

I think a regulator will be fine with your setup

ye think the spi's put out 18psi and the pump is inside the tank!!

0.7bar

so thats about 10 psi

Get a facet fuel pump and a pressure regulator

the ideal setup as mentioned is a facet redtop pump and my personal preference is a filter king regulator, but i am unsure what problems an intank pump would give you to do this and for the sake of a facet giving 6-7psi and a standard giving 10psi i think that if on a budget the standard pump would be fine

Ive been looking at buying a new carb tank (?50-?60) and a facet fuel pump but i need to save money at the moment. So i'm going to set the car up with the orginal tank and pump and see how it goes if i cant get the best out of the car with that then i will buy a new tank and pump.

The other thing is the 1.2i tank has a feed and return and with the T40's u dont need a return so ive got to block it off somehow. Any ideas??

Cheers

You don't HAVE to block it off, it does no harm running it.

so do the webbers have a fuel return on them then??

u need a restricted t piece on the fuel input pipe (so not all the fuel goes down the T for the return)

or just use a bolt and jubilee clip to blank old return off and not bother, which ever you feel is best for yourself

The rally car uses the fuel return, however when the tank is moved inside and lines run through the car then we will not be using the return pipe...It's not like there is much unused fuel left to return on the rally car :o

this may be a daft idea but - run the fuel return to the exhaust - boof big flames
ya got the performance of the 40s and the looks of a flamethrower ha ha
give it a shot

point is the float chambers are not really designed to STOP pressurised fuel flowing which is what they will be doing in essence at low and medium speeds for the most part when connected to an electric fuel pump

even 3psi would have the tank emptied in minutes without summat stopping it, wihout the return pipe that summat is the float valves in the carb which WILL eventually give out - i'd reccomend hooking up the return anyway to ensure u dont fuck your carbs
