Personally, I'd have a twin headlight conversion done on it, think the nova lights look a bit dated, and get a smaller numberplate for the rear.

Sweet looking Nova, makes me want to get another, but I aint doing it

Will
01-11-03, 03:02 PM
y not have no numberplate for the rear? same effect ?30 fine

?Marty?
01-11-03, 03:12 PM
That looks mint!

I'd get it de-locked and fit a single wiper, and that's it for the outside. Though the rear numberplate could look 'better'.

Anton
01-11-03, 03:21 PM
I thought I could get a slightly squeezed number plate, like techies red gsi

Riggy
01-11-03, 03:39 PM
imo id leave the outside cos it looks mint and cosentrate on engine or interior,if insurace is dear leave the engine mods but clean it all up niceley gettin rid of all the years of dirt, and the go interior has it got e/w rc/l if not then theres a couple of mods, and maybee a re-trimmed interior cos i personally dont like the design of the gte interior , the gsi is nice though.

Tazzy
01-11-03, 04:01 PM
i agree with Gobby and Marty, it looks absolute mint!

deffo agree with the de-locking to finish off the smooth look, and the Irschmer Quad Conversion, it looks mint, i wanted to get it for my GTE, it fits flush with the GTE bumper on a mk1, all in one quads and grille - classic!

Neil.
01-11-03, 04:25 PM
I'd screw the rear left of ur bumper on a bit more :D

That Silver paintwork looks Soooo Good!!! :D

Defo Smooth the bumpers! Makes the GTE look a lot more modern I think....(I would say that because mine are smoothed  )

And also Single Wiper............Apart from that I think the exterior is pretty much spot on!

Don't do smoked clusters!!! Clear ones look heaps better in my opinion!

Well done mate.....Sweet car!

Anton
02-11-03, 11:49 AM
i quite fancy oing the side skirts black, and getting the original gte graphics made up on the doors

(as people keep thinking its a goddamn 1.2 lmao)

krobinson
02-11-03, 01:40 PM
brand new skirts are only ?70 from vauxhall. Just over ?15 a quater. Would break up the silver a bit with them!

Smooth the bumpers.. Delock..

But as it sits, the styling is spot on, love it mate, and glad your back in a Nova :D

eh???? what is that supposed to be saying???

Breeny
03-11-03, 02:39 PM
Was only saying cos Will thinks hes come kinda of insurance god..

He got all his information from some little prick who owned a cossie at 17 :P

I didnt realise you were that young either.

Insuring under your mum is illegal, she has to use the car more than you. Insurance can be void if they find out. I'm sure Ian will kick off in a minute and tell you the same thing lol

oh and keep it Mk1, you know it makes sense :P

Dpnova
03-11-03, 02:49 PM
Is it true that if you make someone like your mum a named driver on your insurance that it lowers your preimum :D

jkhilton
03-11-03, 02:51 PM
I was just saying that the sentance will wrote makes no sense! lol.

I think paying ?1500 on a Gsi is way to high. on my 1.3sr, I was paying around ?400 tpft when I was 18, I had friends that had GSi's and were the same age as me and they were paying just under a grand, admittedly that was 6 years ago now, but the fact the cars are older now and worth less, I would have thought it would mean the insurance would stay around that level and not go up by ?500-600.

Will
03-11-03, 02:53 PM
pmsl, didnt get all my info off him breeny, far from it, but i knew wot he was up to after talking to him for a while :P

  im only trying to help, lol

yes it will reduce ur premium going under ur mum.... but

1. you wont ever get any no claims bonus as ur not he policy holder

2. if u crash and they find out ur not the main driver policy can be void

saying all that everyone does it at some point.......

technical term is called fronting in the insuance trade, im sure ian and ade will have more info on this.

John: wot i meant was it would have been a grand for me but i switched to the gsi half way thru my policy so i didnt pay that much :D

dave.gsi
03-11-03, 08:48 PM
whats this magic super plan that can let you insure a cossie at 17?

my insurance.......

18....1.3sr....?1065
19....1.3sr....??535
20....1.6gsi....?1180

03-11-03, 09:40 PM
I dont give a fuck..

Buy a metro insure it with CIS tpft.... (allows you to drive other cars)

Buy a Cossie (or whatever) and get your dad to insure it.

Drive cossie on CIS insurance because your insured on other cars.

Dodgy as hell yes.

srs1
03-11-03, 09:47 PM
but the car has to registered under someone elses name. and has to be insured by another person, or you cant get it road taxed.

dave.gsi
03-11-03, 09:48 PM
ive allways thought of doing that. insuring a banger 1.0 with other cars cover and getting a different car registered in someone elses name.

agreed, dodgy as fuck but probably not technically illegal?

dave.gsi
03-11-03, 09:53 PM
but the car has to registered under someone elses name. and has to be insured by another person, or you cant get it road taxed.

theres a way around that too. get one of your mates to register the car and insure it. as soon as he gets off the phone to the insurer, he contacts his bank and tells them not to let any payment go out to them (stop the direct debit). the insurance company wont realise youve stopped the bank paying them and will send out the insurance certificate thinking its just a mix up like what happens when you open new policies. as soon a the certificate is here get your ass to the post office and tax it for twelve months.

then just send it back to the insurers saying you want to cancel the policy

MattyWoo
04-11-03, 09:20 PM
saying all that everyone does it at some point.......

No they don't!! what about just paying what they charge for insurance anc being insured legally instead of trying to blag it and being fooked if summit goes wrong??
Or am i the only honest person in the world??

Fester
04-11-03, 10:32 PM
no all my policies have been kosher

insured with a provisional license with CIS for about ?800 (cant remember)
then got 1.4SR later that went up by about ?200 for the rest of the year

then ?650 following year, still 18 with 1.4SR, then cancelled

then got the GTE for ?900 TPFT with flux 2years ncb

have thought about that dodgy technique before!

Jim
04-11-03, 10:35 PM
Or am i the only honest person in the world??

Nope, im with you on that one Matt. The only time I've not been on my own insurance was when i didnt have my own car so i as put under my mum/dads name. It hurt when i first got my own insurance, but getting your own insurance works out for the better in the long run.

Nova_Kahn, how old are you? If you have lots of convictions against you already, then it sounds like your a dangerous driver. I may be assuming too much though. Explain what sort of convictions and how old you are etc, then we might understand why your being quoted 5k on an 10+ year old car.

Jim

Will
04-11-03, 11:57 PM
nova kahn, pm me i will help you.

p.s. ppl getting annoyed with me abt all this? im only offering advice, you dont have to do anything i say but if it saves you money then cool im glad i helped etc.

i saved paul andrew robinson a grand on insurance just by having a 10/15 min chat on msn etc

will

p.s. IMO it doesnt work out cheaper in the long run if you have to pay ?1500 + at 17 to insure a 1.0 ...... under ur parents for 1 or 2 yrs does u favours cause starting at 19 means potentially by 21 u have 2 yrs ncb and its cheap

yes u cud have 4 yrs ncb but u wud have paid 1500 and 1000 for the first 2 yrs where as under ur parents it wud have been under a grand for both yrs:

also under ur parents isnt a good thing mind as its technically cheating bu there we go.

As for u being the only honest person matt? how many times did the owneership of your car change before u passed your test while decided wether to go under your mum or not? see wot i mean, its always a thing ppl think abt.......

e.g. me

17: 1.2 nova ?360 dad and me

18: ?770: me

19: ?500 1.4 me

20: ?800 gsi (grp 11) me

21: prediciting 600 me gsi

etc etc

will

NoVa_KhAn
05-11-03, 03:10 AM
can i add u 2 msn will?

im 18 an im not gona say my convictions and how many on here because i no ill get slatted 4 it as i did on migweb!

jkhilton
05-11-03, 04:08 AM
I'm not being funny, but to be quoted 5k for a 1 litre nova, I personally would give up on cars and get buses/taxis everywhere, it will probably work out cheaper in the long run!!!

Which company quoted you 5k??? one of my mates has written off 5 cars now, has a drink driving conviction and has been done for driving without due care and attention twice, his insurance was just under ?1000 on a 1.2 nova when he was 18(he had the convictions then and had made a few claims on insurance aswell)

peester
05-11-03, 07:41 AM
20: ?800 gsi (grp 11) me

21: prediciting 600 me gsi

etc etc

will

agreed. except im 22 and paying 600 quid. i learnt to drive 1 year too late, didn't start till 18 and a bit.so my figs are a year out. but you predict correct.

NoVa_KhAn
05-11-03, 02:15 PM
i cant remember wat company it was cos wen they sed 5k i sed bye lol! im sure i will b able 2 get it cheaper if i search as hard as i can and ring up companies all day! mate 5k is a lot of money but imgona try and pay it if it means i can drive!
