for the rally car i'll be using a fairly simple engine to start off. GSi engine with a different cam and maybe webers.
as regards speed i won't need to be having savage top end speed so what final drive should i put in for acceleration? i think its a diesel box one but can't think!! top speed down to 105 or 110 will be sound.
mc and dicko have already said the 4.18 is in the wr boxes.
whats best for me?

std gsi gives about 118mph at 6000 revs, what rev limit + wheel/tyre combo will you be using???

as regards rev limit it will be a standard gsi engine for now.
as regards wheels and tyres i don't know for sure yet, it depends on if i come across someone selling a bunch of revolutions etc. will be 14" or 15" and not sure about tyres yet. haven't even got thinking that far yet even though i know what yer getting at as regards gearing due to wheel size.

If You run 13" wheels You might get away with a 4.18 cwp. For 14" or 15" You should use a 4.53 cwp, I think they were std in a nova van (Not 100% sure though).

Remember in rallying You will not be doing over 100mph very often at all, it's all about acceleration over short distances.

1.2 and 1.3 mk2 astra and 1.2 and 1.4 corsa's. Go to your local scrappy, find some examples, and look at the stamp on the end of box. Not all will have it, so you'll have to go and look.
