Was talking to my new Nova buddy today. He's a stock rod racer and is gonna start using a Nova. He has told me of a local race engineering firm that prepares 1.4 engines for this racing.

1. 1.4 stock block - lightened and balanced (maybe tuftrided crank not sure)
2. 1.3 standard head ( can port but valves must remain std)
3. Stock Rod cam - about 300 degree duration and 12mm lift
4. Pierburg carb re- jetted

Power?

About 125hp at the flywheel. So Pierburgs are good for about 50hp more than std

yeah there not as bad as everyone reckons
my mate has been racing sierras for years and they have to stick to the pierburg although they rip off the vacumn second choke and just have it on a spring, anything over half throttle and it just opens fully then ;)
the problems are with rejetting as you cant change the air correctors very easily as they interference fit into the carb body.
there are a load of bigger cars that run the 2e3 or equivalent, many audi's ,vw's etc
