My nova had 178bhp, half cage, bucket seats (no rears) and a big sub box in the boot. the best time i recorded 0-60 was 6.47 and quarter in 14.76.

I cant see them as being over hyped ? for less than 1500 quid you can build 1 from scratch if your not too botherd about the handling that is. I recorded a 14.8 qtr mile on a standard 20XE engine in my nova and 0-60 6.32 at trax with full interior and system. Recently at CC i kept with my mates GTIR round the track so the car aint that bad. So for 2k a car quicker than an escort cossie over a qtr mile and good enough to stay with a 4wd round a track i wouldnt cll that over rated.

14.62 qtr 6secs 0-60, 150mph(and it was still going) on clock for ?2500!!!!!!!!!
if you want speed and power go for it. i have ashamed brand new civic type-R's, impreza's and cossie's

A couple of people on mig have done 14.5's with fairly standard xe's in various stages of stripped nova's.

dan16v
22-10-03, 10:05 PM
well i think they are over rated! thats my opinion, if you think they feel fast then you must be a fag!
id never driven or been in a 16v nova, i picked myne up and the first time i booted it i thought is that it! just not what there made out to be!
myne dynod at 174bhp tho it did have a previous graph for 180bhp from up north  prolly where the ambient temp is -20 up north!

You only say there over rated coz youve been there, done that and now spent 10k on a turbo...........

At the end of the day there arnt many n/a 2L's that will beat a 2l nova and when mine leaves you at the lights whilst yours is still spinning through first.....second.......... and third were then continue this conversation.

dan16v- i remember the first time i drove my 16v, i didn't really think it was that fast but after being a passenger in the same car, i realised it WAS fucking tremendous!

Ste_Nova
23-10-03, 09:35 AM
after going out in robs 330bhp nova my standard 16v feels tame

but its not slow... as racing 'fast' cars proved

dan16v
23-10-03, 01:48 PM
exactly ste...
my nova should run around robs old bhp ie 330bhp, now my car still isnt finished but how do you describe what 330bhp in a nova feels like? and TWAG i reckon my let nova will still get your bog std nova 16v from a stand still! remember you will still be spinning in 2nd gear aswell as me! and i bet you wont fork out for a lsd like i did as you are a cheap skate!
at the end of the day yes i spose a 16v std nova is fast but to me it just didnt cut it, i expected to realy be thrown bak in the seat etc but it just wasnt like that! :(

I agree with Dan too.

I think that 2.0l 16v Novas are highly over rated, im not disputing there quick but there seems to be some mentality from there owners that they are the quickest car on the roads- And there not.

They are great value for money thats no question. I got bored of ours after a couple of weeks.
