Depends on the offset of the wheels, but I'd recommend you get the lip on your arch rolled/ground away.

16" Wheels will be better for acceleration/handling than 17" wheels.

If you lower the car 60mm instead of 35mm, the 16" wheels will still look good on the car. This is the setup that I have and so do many others. Take a look in the Feature cars section to see examples of cars with this set up.

I'm runing 17's with a 60mm drop, and it hasn't really affected handling/accelleration considerably, if at all noticably, and i can 'blast it down country lanes' with no problem at all (no catching/rubbing).

It depends on the engine/gearbox. It would be more noticable if you are running a 2.0 16v in the acceleration stakes, but if it's a 1.0 you're hardly gonna be able to tell if it takes 14 sec 0-60 or 15 sec!!
