ok heres the deal, already rebuilt it. sounds and drives better, but its just no good only having a 0-60 in 12 seconds. so far i have swapped out the shitty 4 speed for a gte 5 speed. my next thought was to to put the 1.3sr inlet/carb on it. If there is another route that can get me bigger power can somebody let me know (and dont say engine transplant).

a few ideas were to maybe put a mk2 1.2injection head? performance cam, xsaust etc.

give me some ideas guys.

1.2 injection stuff its crap. dont bother.

1.3 inlet manifold, and a webber 32/34 carb with a mildish cam will be good for you.

what ever u do dont change to 1.2i system as its crap, single point injection ruins it. Can u not just fit some twin 40's?

GTE box aint all that bad...

1st gear will be longer than his old first

2-4 will be closer than 2-3 on the old box

5th on the GTE is ever slightly longer than 4th on 4 speed

so the box will make the car feel faster not slower

really if you need to keep your insurance down then this is your best bet for any sort of mild power,

1.4sr(14nv also found in mk2 astra) bottom end
1.2 carb head
Webber 32/34 carb
1.3sr inlet manifold bored out to match carb
1.4sr(14nv) cam
exhaust system i used a gte system with sportex backbox

this lot should take you a day at the most to do and see you with enough power till you can afford a decent engine conversion ie. 1.6 16v or above

ok i got a general idea now, does the 32/34 card have an auto choke? cause i would be somewhat pleased to rip that out.

what about induction kits? and or clutches? my clutch is fucked so i thought i'd slam in a black diamond.

the webber carb is manual choke but i never use mine i just tap the peddle for 30 secs or so on off then it warms up sufficiently and thats me livin in the north east
