lads,
i converted a 1 litre nova (1992 nova using a 1990 1.4 sr engine) to a 1.4 and the day it was finished i took it for a drive. it was dark so i had the lights on and when i flashed the lights for the first time the engine stalled straight away.
now the only way to start the engine is have the lights completely off.

id say its a wiring problem.
any help lads please its bugging me? :?

cheers

only wiring on the sr engine bar the senders for dash lights etc is the coil. how have you wired them?

wired the coil;

brown; earth
green; rev counter
black; power

do you think its a problem with the coil?

hrm when i installed my 1.4 i missed an earthstrap down by the coil and the lights all fucked up when i turned em on

little silly brown wire and it connected to the same place as the gearbox earth strap

what coil u using?

i had my 1.2 changed to a 1.3 and an additional bit of loom had to be made up - I dont have a rev counter - something to do with electronic timing advance. Dunno if that s the issue - lights are obv drawing power from one of the engine power sources.

dunno if having lights on and having wrong coil would affect the running of the engine though. :?
