yup to both as they will be identical
if u wanted u could swap the engines over and fit a carb from a 1.4sr inplace of the spi unit and u;d basically have an SR engien :)

i would have but the engine in the mk3 is the one with the smaller valves and has a bad oilleak and is kinda rinsed out and done like 120000 miles +.
So the brakes r the same size then? no point swapping them over i was kinda hoping the astras were bigger than the novas. r the fuel filters the same????

the mk3 astra 1.4spi is the same engine as the 1.4spi nova which has the same cylinder head and block as a 1.4SR nova
the valves u mention are the reason the 1.3SR makes 70bhp and the 1.4SR makes 72bhp - the 1.3 has the large valves same as the 1.2
if your feeling creative then u could fit your 1.2 carb head to the 1.4 and attach a carb and manifold from a 1.3SR
prolly get u up around 80bhp

that sounds likea plan but im skint and the astras getting taken away as an insurance right off (damage to wings bonnet and sub frame, drives fine tho...) in a weeks time. i havent got the money to swap the engines over (1.4 into nova) and get 1.3sr carb and manifold. would there be any gain by putting the injector from the 1.4 onto the nova? but i guess then i'd need to move everything like ecu etc.
im lowering the nova onto 15" fox racing alloys, and was gonna lower it by say 30-40mm, is it ok to just buy the springs because new they r only ?70 for all round.
so brakes, no point in swapping them??
cheers again

brakes are the same - i'd haul the engine out anyway and keep it
even if yuor skint now u can work on it over some months and then once everythings done u can plop it in

actually - if the astra brakes are ATE's (which they prolly are - they have a D shaped bit cut out of the front of the caliper where u can see the pad) then take em as the ones on your 1.2 are prolly the old shitty delco's (no D shape and u can see the 2 split pins go thru the front of the caliper) which are seriously crap

1.2 1.3 and 1.4 all have the same valve sizes

r u sure about the valves, because i read in a recent total vauxhall mag that they r different and that u can get them upgraded for bigger ones (on the 1.4spi) for like ?300 as the spi 1.4 comes in 2 different forms, a 60bhp (the one i have) and a 82bhp varient, and the only difference is the valves.
i will check out the brake situation.
cheers
