does anyone take out theyre novas ECU (the computer box under the glove box) when they leave the car somewhere?. Car couldnt be driven away by any horrible thieves then. Is it ok to keep unplugging it?, or has anyone tried putting a switch on it?

i done this for about a week when i installed my new engine - used to run like a bag of shite after reinstalling it tho so i stopped it

easiest way if to fit a kill switch on the ignition and fuel circuits and hide em round the cabin

No dont bother.

Fit an approved thatcham immobiliser and get insurance which gives a discount for having them fitted.

Complicated alarms and other homemade stuff tends to lead to more problems than they solve cos a lot of wiring is dead dodgy. If you dont know what you are doing get someone who does.

I've seen looms melt down and just endless grief.

f ck it, just get everything!

i have 2 sets of wheel lock nuts (even though ive got steels!)
handbrake lock
steering wheel lock
foot pedal lock
and soon to buy a thatcham cat1 alarm and immob
(with internal movement detectors!)
and ive got 3 switches which i will be hiding in the cabin
soon to de-lock it as well
and if that aint enough, im also gonna buy a wheel lock as well

no f cker is nicking my baby!

another way of security is if you are parking your car in a car park or on a main road, take the spark leads 1 and 4 off!

you do all those things but if someone really wants it they will have it - ie 10 mins with a set of bolt cutters (for h/brake cable) and a trailer and its gone

there is a point of deminishing returns and that list there is well and truly past that point ;)

(the computer box under the glove box)

What model have you got?

You sure your not disconnecting the central locking controller :?:
