Think I may have some sort of virus.

I keep getting loads of pop ups, and pop up style error messages advertising things. Any ideas to get rid.

I also have an msblast.exe thing on here, is that a virus?

Cheers
Ant

update your pc through the wiondows update website, look for the MS026 update.

Also, use task manager, processes, then end the msblast.exe process.

then delete the msblast.exe file from your pc.

To be honest, I am suprised you haven't already updated your pc, this is the big virus that everyone was moaning about a few weeks ago.

Get some anti virus software and a firewall!!!!!!

It really annoys me that people dont keep their PC's upto date. The firewall I set up for my dad reports around 150 attacks from the blaster virus every 10 mins or so, none of them are sucessful, but it is still really annoying.

They all come from 81.130.... address's.

If people kept their PC's updated then this sort of thing wouldn't be happening and I wouldn't have to keep explaining to my dad what the attacks are!!!!

We had the pop up thing the other day at work. Crappy shite from a company called GAIN software. Went in add/remove programs and found 2 programs: Precision Time & Date Manager. Removed them and away went the pop-ups. Viruses are fucking annoying, written by some of the cleverest programmers you could ever wish to meet, but they put it to the wrong use, but hey it keeps me employed, so I suppose I shouldn't complain, LMAO!

why cant virus's be more useful. For example- get you porn for free, rather than annoying :|

someones counter-written the blaster worm to remove the original and automatically contact the microsoft site to patch you up, how nice lol

so if you are vulnerable to the blaster worm then you are vulnerable to the fix version LOL!

all the anti virus sites still say dont trust it though

Get a program called Ad Aware from Lavasoft. Its freeware so you won't have to pay for it. Searches your hdd for any form of spyware (including the registry) and allos you to quarantine or delete the infected files. (most of them are temp internet files)

Best to run it every week, its amazing what gets through even though a firewall/virus checking software is used.
