basically they grind away the other side of the cam lobe
the idea is that when the valve is closed, the lifter will pump up and close the gap between itself and the cam, if u grind some material away then it pumps up further and when it comes round to open the valve it opens further because of this
as for how good they are - ive no idea...
Dont do it there bad news! Basically weakens it and will fail and cause upmost damage, if it was that easy and cheap companies like Piper and kent would be out of bussiness in a matter of months!
