just thought i'd let you know, that if you have stung by halfords this would make you laugh.
I bought an x-display kenwood mask. had loads and loads of probs with it.
so they gave me a 2 year extension on guarantee. i was a happy chappy.
i got my gte and went to swop head units over. noticed some numb nut had damaged the radio when putting it in.
i kicked off. 3 months with no radio, they gave me a brand new 9090r.
happy again. well that didn't last a year. so now i have got yet another brand new replacement, a psw9524.
but the winner is... i only paid ?125 for the x-display one. this one is ?549.

i wont get anything from halfords, theyre over-priced and thick as sh!t!
theres enough car stores in Birmingham/West Midlands to make sure i dont have to go to halfords!
Fletchers and Midlands Performance Centre are the places i use!
your the lucky one. there's not much round here that i know off.
any one know of any good places near chester?

oi!! some of us halford guys are ok. they don't pay us enough.
lesson leart- dont buy kenny's they are unreliable. Think alpine people. price reflects quality. but this isn't i.c.e forum so ill shut up now.
any way srs1 tell me any other mod/ice shop that would be that kind to keep giving you new- dearer units as if they were going out of fashion. didn't they make up for it?
i aint ripping the guys, they were sound. just thought it was good for morale that someone got one over the companys who take our hard earned cash so easily. so halfords spokesman put your handbag down. lol
demon tweeks are well expensive.

i know you was just messin. halford at the end of the day always have expected too much doing this ripspeed stuff and as you say at those prices and limited choice they aren't going to get anywhere really. all its done is made mr .ripp really rich and gives desperate people the chance to buy something tacky for their car on a sunday.lol. all you boys know what youre doin' so i dont expect to see you in my branch. ill keep serving muppets with ford escorts and saxos.

Good for you mate. BUT. You did not 'get one over the company'.
Also, 'my' Halfords is pretty good. Most of the staff are knowledgeable (apart from a few chimps - quite ironinc how they depicted actual monkeys working for them in the recent advert) and as for prices, they do a 'any local' price match refund + 10% extra, with proof.
very hard to get them to do the local price match. they have quite a few get out clauses

To be fair some of the stuff they do in there is ok, but most is just overpriced tat.

I use Halfords a fair bit. If you know what you're after and go in there not acting like a rude boy scally there usually helpful.
Oh, ?4.46 is over twice what I started earning when I turned 16. I was on ?2.11 in my first job. That was 10 years ago though :| F**k me, I'm old, LOL.

lol, yeah, I remember my first job, it was ?25 per shift working in a Pizza takeaway in Stockport. from memory the shifts were from 3pm to 1am or something, but like Jim, it was a long time ago(8 years!)
If I was 16 now, I would be well chuffed with ?4.46/hour, at that age most people barely have any expenses, so nearly all the cash is spare. I know now I earn alot more than that, but my outgoings are alot higher aswell, so I probably have less spare cash than when I was 16!!! doh!

i remember being on about 40 quid per week in a part time job and thinking how fantastic it would be to earn over a grand a month and thinking i would be able to have the wolrds best car and every cd ever made :lol:

on the farm i was on ?6.00, then 6.30, then 6.50 and this year was offered 6.81 (but declined due to wanting a 9-5 job lol)
my current wage is ?5.50 ph
new job will be ?10.90
Just had a job interview as a telesales person. Starting rate for 3 months ?6 p/hour, the to 6 months, ?6.50 p/hour and after 6 months ?7 p/hour!!!!!!!!!!!
And thats part time.

good on ya mate. its a rite laff. ive worked in several halfords' all have been cool. bonuses etc are bit pants but it is an easy life. never come home tired or peed off and its not specialist enough to get fed up wiv cars, you know working wiv them everyday - like mechanics get perhaps.
i know very little about cars - but you get away with it. all the clued up people go specialist so you just serve people induction kits, back boxes and lowering springs. although today i did flog a wings west kit (to order) for a honda crx. ?700 odd sheets. and road angel.

i think im in the wrong job!
im a bar supervisor, im one of the supervisors (always an S on at a time) im in charge of the bar, all what has to be done in the celler, and however many staff are on at the time, i have to make sure the bar is running smoothly and the food is goin out at the right time in the right order, and all custimers are satisfied, im also in charge of all the stock, well over 100k's worth, i also have to make sure the whole place is locked up of a night, i also havr to make sure all 4 tills are ok!
the place is making over a million a year easy!
and guess what im on?
?5 an hour, even then, the lovely tax man take almost half my wages from me at the end of the month! oh joy!
but ive been told that if i get into football coaching at a leisre centre, i could be on around a tenner or so! hmmmmm!!!!

I've applied for Halfords but i'm still waiting to hear from them about an interveiw. ( i won't get my hopes toug)
I've also been stung by halfords. Brought a set of Wolfrace Dynamo alloys from them about 7 months ago, marked up as end of range for a vauxhall ?350. They checked that they fit a nova phoned me 2 days later said i could have them. They also ordered a fitting Kit that i had to wait 2 weeks for, eventually get it went to fitt the wheels and found spigot rings were for the wrong size wheels, the centre caps were for a different wheel, one of the wheels were corroded under the lacqure and the wheels were for a ford not a vauxhall.
After 6 months of aguring with a aussie bloke in there i eventuall manged to get manager involved who said i could have any Fox wheels i wanted.
So i got the Evo 3 in crystral which were ?650 (wanted titenium finish but weren't in stock).
