Hi more of a curiosity thing than anything else.

I was reading through the nova rally build manual and reading through the engine section everything makes sense apart from the crank breather , The breather that runs from the block between 3+4 to cam carrier they tell you to blank it off I was wondering what the reasoning was behind this I would of thought more breathing the better. I am sure someone can enlighten me.

Cheers Eddie

The build is for a rally car. It probably Meant blank off the top end at the cam carrier & run the crank one to a catch tank.
the group a engine ran a harsher cam & much higher compression, so it was probably a reliability thing

In the manual they tell you blank of the crank one with the provided plate and the correspoding one in the cam carrier, so all you are left with is the one in rocker cover (to a catch can/intake) and crank is only breathing via the oil drain holes in the head.

Unless it’s for classic rallying, I doubt it’s worth doing anyway
