i thought it was about time when it came out- it got better and better then passed few months been a bit dull. haven't missed an issue though. jammy ford sods have got 3 or 4 of the f**kers! on fords? didn't know whsmiths did bog roll.

F*rd have a few good mags, my bro buys them regulerly (hes a trator!) TV is fairly crud, but granted, it isnt aimed at us 'young boy racers' (if you will!) its aimed at the more sophisticated middle aged motor restorer, us young 'boy racers' with novas, corsa and astras will get a fair look in though, and it does cater for all, but it is aimed at everyone, unlike MP, revs, redlin and fc!

they should make TV bigger though with more better stuff in it!

still, very informative for ppl who aint got a clue, like me!

man, i bought Max Power again this month.....WHY???

since I've had my car, I've lost interest in it totally. most of the cars in there are so unrealitic its unbelivable. Like most of the cover cars are owned by ppl that got theyr own tuning company or sunthin i.e. they r minted and spent about ?60000 on modifying it.

was thinkn of getting TV....prob wont now tho, lol

p.s anyone seen that T5 in this months? :o ....ahhh yeh mate....its nice....honest. not my cup of tea anyway

like all mags, they will continue to have cr*ppy aspects of them, but still, every month without fail i buy both MP and TV!

i kinda agree with barney and up until recently kept buying mp even though i dont enjoy it anymore - cars all ott. that volvo is a hybrid beast and not really sure what to make of it. but ive stopped buying it now- i get a browse at work; we have to have it for price matching on car audio. even got to the point where i missed max power live this year- been twice previous and enjoyed it (especially when i bumped into an old school friend i hadn't seen for years -she was Modelling in barely nothing at the show.)wa-wa-wi-wa

havent bought any of the mags, after religiously buying them for ages (despite thinking they were getting crapper and crapper).

Until a few nights ago, when i was completely bored at 2am, so went to the 24hour spar and bought MP, FC, Revs and Redline. SO FULL OF SHIT!! Scanned through but am not even remotely interested in them anymore, so they're all in the bin now. And it all cost ?20!

I won't waste my money on MP etc,Total Vaux is still a worthwile read. Half of those feature cars in MP may look great, but have all the everyday usability of a sledge. I'd much rather have my nova like the one in this months Total Vaux. After all the editor is a Vaux and in particular Nova nut. 8)

fc is the worst, over priced as well, most expensive out the 4!

fc - dirty old pervs but know what they are talking about!
redline - aint got a clue, dont know anything, just feature utter tripe
mp - has its good features, filled with too many adverts though
revs - same as mp, just another bit of profit for Emap

I agrre with the point about mags

Max Power was a ground breaking mags but i "Heard" that nowadays you have to PAY for a front cover, IE have adverts in the magazine and you gat covercar. That means only top-tit tuners will get front cover.......

Fast Car should be called "Slow car with big wheels" cos if you fitted a Nikko radio control cars with 18" wheels you'd get a feature... Who can forget the silver nova fitted with 18" wheels featured(it was 3 shades of silver and looked like my 5 yr old son had painted it... and built it with his stickle bricks!)

Redline is just like a porno mag for under 18's and are off the pulse. they seem to feature cars that have been in a mag already but changed the wheels or something so they give them another feature!

Revs used to be my favourite mag, but now it's almost as if some the features are in there because they aren't quite expensive enough for Max Power!!!

Total Vauxhall blows hot and cold. I buy it every month because there is ALWAYS something good in it. I've seen a few shitters in there though, but when it comes to NOVA'S they'v featured a few crackers....

Euro orange, bretts, martin kelson, martin hill, jonathan evans, declan burke and some wanker called rick marland......

but i don't think they should feature more than 1 of each car every month, ie 2 corsas.....

If perhaps there was another vauxhall mag available (like fast ford/performane ford) there would be a raising of the standard....

Finally, the best car mag available is Performance VW. I don't have a VW but i buy this mag purely because they have UK cars, cars from Germany, Holland, USA, Canada, even fucking australia!!!!! Full features though, and they are all interesting, even if the car is shite!!!!

Obviously, this is only my opinion, and if you don't agree, fair play! But please don't be abusive to me because of my opinion...

i didn't mean all vw's are shit, i just meant some cars in the features are shit but the feature itself is interesting!!

Have to agree with you there Rick. Performace VW is a very good mag indeed.

Ive stopped buying mags really.. Havn't bought Lax Flower, Breadline, Trevs or Slow car for years (I did buy Breadline this month, cos my car was in it though  )

Used to buy TV every month without failure but I havn't bought that in about 6 months either.

i bought revs this month (after noticing the quality dropped) but i thought there was a big improvement

decent how to guides (not filters and zorts again  ) a decent article on the build of a show car.

fast car? why bother?

I only look at TV these days. Mainly because I have a Vauxhall and I like to see what other people have done to their Novas. I won't buy the mag if it hasn't got a Nova in it, but I have done on the odd occasion (mainly to have something to read).

promotion for vauxhall would be better if there was more than one mag, but who is going to create another? and with only one vaux mag, TV are collecting all the rewards!

maybe there should be another mag like 'Performance Vauxhall', something more for our interests, like modded corsas, novas and astras, and a few others, with the latest mods for them etc!

that way, the older generation who restore vauxhalls, the old skool like the viva, firenza, chevette, manta, etc!

what do f*rd find to put in half a douzen mags?

peester
02-10-03, 11:16 PM
like what u say there andi, but unfortunately vivas, chevettes etc were no mk1, mk2 escort were they? thats why classic f**d has been around for ages and no sign on a classic vaux. but now our mk1, mk2 astras/novas/cavs are going that way then maybe. one fine day.
a few people mentioned the deep purple caged, xe nova in this months tv-would that fit into a classic vaux mag? not enough people mess with vivas and vette's. i used to own two viva's (hence my sig) to be different: pretty naff and dull on that front.

Something like manta, nova sport, mk1 astragte would all qualify for a classic vx mag.... but even THEY are thin on the ground.........

The ford mags are good-ish but how many times can you read "380bhp sapp cos" or "350bhp esc cos" or "200bhp rst" before you know it all??

No disrespect intended (after all i'm buying a saph cos myself) but all the mag features are the same!

The VW boys seem to go from mild to wild every issue, one month Performance VW had a german golf, mk2, stripped with cage and a 1300 engine......... full race prep giving 120bhp, revved up to 8,000!! it was so light it would beat a mk2vr6........ but go round corners too!!!! (i doff my cap to CPS cos it's he closest VW i've seen to his nova!!)

I think we should all petition Performance VW to make another mag, PERFORMANCE VAUXHALL......

Yeah in fact I'm gonna put it on this forum...

I'm gonna do it NOW!

i agree!

TV could be left to the older generation who like to restore cars, im thinking of doing just that, buying an old Vaux and doing it up to standard, as if it came of the production line, it might not be mentle or one off, but its a project!

that way, the oldies wont get p!ssed off seeing all these modded cars and younger 'boyracers' (car entheisiasts!) in the same mag, they have their stuff, we have ours!
