My 1.2 nova was a 4 speed,iv put a C16SE in with5 speed box,I often hear people writing that the lug has to be cut off so 5th can be selected,iv not had to do this with my original 4 speed shifter and can select 5th.Does any one have pics off this lug or better still a 5 speed shifter

I had to cut my lug off to select 5th.

Was yours a mk1? Mine has a lug but I think it’s smaller,I can select 5th with no chopping,mine is a mk2

Yes a mk 1 - got a good condition one off an 86/87 car but was 4 speed.

3 people have just said they never had to on their mk2 so must be smaller lug

I’ve got a mk2 1.2i 4 speed and put 1.4 carb with 5 speed box in it. no problems selecting gears
