View Full Version : Smallblock turbo conversion, coolant lines

All the smallblock turbo conversion I've seen over the years have not had water lines on the turbocharger

I guessing this was either to save time/effort/money
Or that it's not possible?

I'm thinking that it would be best to have some fitted

On a 8v smallblock where could I take the feed from?
And the return?

A header tank with an extra spout on the top would probably be a good place for the return and possibly come off somewere around the stat area for the feed

Yes, mine had an extra outlet from the header tank. If you haven't looked at it already, my Project thread might be useful.

It's probably because the small turbos used (T3?) don't require water cooling...

True, the Courtenay conversions ran T2's on 8v and T25's on smallblock 16v

I'm using a T25 from a B204 engine

Guess it will be OK without cooling???

Top of the rad (bleed pipe) to the turbo, then the turbo to the header tank. That's how my let is piped up. Works perfectly.
