My nova has sat in the garage for over 6 years now and I am thinking of starting up my rebuild again to get it back to road worthiness.

I'm really thinking turbo power but dont have the funds for a Let and I dont want to do a mash with decomp plate or pistons etc, plus wiring looms etc. are expensive and quite old now.

I'm looking at the saab turbo route but wondered what other options I have for an engine around the same price of what my XE would sell for, so maybe have £450 ish to spend?

Whats your thoughts?

What about one of the lesser 2.0 turbo engine like the z20lel although you may have to go aftermarket management and that will bump the cost up.
The Saab option mean chopping up the chassis leg so just depends how much chopping you want to do.

For 450 you're looking at turbo diesel my friend
1.5 or 1.7 at best

Why not the Z19DTH? That would be a 1st in a Nova.just shy of 200bhp with a simple map.

Edit, see why.. missed the bit about the £450!

yeah I am struggling price wise as have too many outgoings such as kids, missus, hefty mortgage, so im stuck. I dont want to do a bodge job with decomp plates etc. as thats not the best place to start. cutting and welding is not much of a problem but saab maybe the best way to go. Thanks for your help.

If you're thinking your xe is 450, you may be surprised that it's worth quite a bit more!

Complete with an f20, I have sold three in the last 6 months for £700+

Scrap the turbo idea. V6 and keep the change for buying tyres lol
