Any suggestions?

Just been for a MOT today and it failed on the emissions being too high (he said almost double whats allowed)

What can i do to lower this? Its been of the road for 3 years so not sure if it has anything to do with that,

Although since i last had it MOT i have had a 4-1 manifold fitted

What engine is it> carb or injection?
A 4-1 wont make a difference unless its a cat model and you've left the lambda sensor off.

its a 2.0 xe, didnt think the manifold would make a difference just thought id mention it, looks like the lamba is in the manifold, could it be faulty?

It would help infinitely if you posted the results of the emmissions tests.

Fit an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and turn the pressure down - ta daaa!

Fit an FSE at the right pressure and it will drop it for you at random times :D

Hydro carbons or co2? Changing anything on the engine could effect emissions enough to put it over - taking off any / all intake filters would help lean it out I expect if it's over 3.5% on hydrocarbons.

Thanks all i will ring up and ask for the readings.......how hard is it to fit a fse?

Fse with a powercap,a k and n dustbin filter, with a big bore backbox were the makings of a 190bhp redtop back in the day lol lol lol

Wait i think i just remebered what a fse is, was that the crappy thing that just made your car overfuel?

haha i ment Wll F suggestion of fitting an AFPR, how hard is that to do?

Easy just requires fuel rail plate and a afpr

Stuart

and most AFPR's that folks get are the FSE's lol

deffo change the lambda sensor in the manifold, also check or change the water temp sensor, both will make it overfuel and fail the emissions. adjustable FPR would be a good further step too.

thanks nitousvaux its cheap enough to change the lamba and water temp sensor so will give it a try....will let you all know what it comes back with thanks
