Hi all, so been off the scene for a while since I regrettably sold my diamond black gsi.

So I have been on the look out for a while for another nova project and luckily enough I came across this wee gem.

Yeah definitely I couldn't believe my lucky when I was speaking to the man Tony selling it. Real original gsi with all the documents to back it up, original bill of sale and every mot from new.

The plans are pretty simple tbh just going to give it a really good check over for the dreaded rust and give it a really good clean and get it sealed. Then get a new exhaust as the old ones shot, and get the engine bay tidied up then get the engine all cleaned.

A few pictures from the inspection thankfully only surface rust.

Thanks Paul, last mot was 2010 and she's been in a shed since. Brakes need to be freed up but engine runs sweet.

Sounds like a fun project you can do a bit at a time and still drive the car inbetween then, if there's no obvious rust or need for a respray.

Well done on the new gsi. It looks like you need to strip all the underseal off the whole car to properly see what's hiding. I see rust on the sills so if it were me I would take the skirts and bumpers off to check behind them also.

Thanks ewan
The plan is to do things bit by bit as its an on going project so, firstly to tackle the obvious problem areas first.

I'd have a look in the rear arches behind the struts as well, dirt/ underseal seems to hide rust behind them.

So in the interior there was a nasty slice in the rear seat, so sent it off to get re-covered and really happy with the result.

Hi All, well had the first attempt at starting the car after the rebuild nut had a few small issues.

Small split in fuel line sorted but can anyone confirm the correct dizzy and plug configuration please as I don't think I have it firing correctly.

Getting fuel and spark so this is the only other reason.

I think Haynes has a plug order diagram. Although it would make sense if the leads were 1-3-4-2 anti-clockwise when looking over the gearbox.
