I bought this nova last year to start stage rallying, I have done a few track days and a rally track 1/1 day. It was a good standard when I bought it but made some changes

Power steering
Quick rack
peddle box
new seats & harnesses
Alloy rad
heated screen
12 new wheels
cill stands
Serviced diff

Still to do;

Hockly shafts
Fit intercom
Fit back flaps
Buy the tyres
fit new disks and pads

Stripped out all the old heater system and a load of other smaller jobs, I am never finished working on it.

The engine is really strong for a 1.6 8v someone spent a lot of time and effort on this car before I bought it, the shell is awesome I forgot just how much buying anything motorsport related was, building one of those from scratch would be a small fortune.

G's car! The guy who had the work done (engine, cage, rear turrets, paint, some of the interior etc) like 15+ years ago is now part of the McLaren F1 pit team.

The guy who did that work is actually the man behind fabled Pepe.

What spec is the 1.6 8v? Looks well.

As far as I know it was Chris Ashtlys car at one point and they built it or the shell and cage work anyway, I bought it from a sound chap in Leyland. I think it had been sitting around for a while, I got it log booked with not much effort so it was a good standard when I bought it.

Nice. What shifter is that? I have the same in mine. I was lead to believe it was a very early quaife item.

Also are the mirrors Mattig? I recently put some of those on too. Great looking car.

spec, covers engine and gear linkage questions

I am real busy at work just now Paul so it's on the back burner, I will do another track day in the next few weeks once I get the brakes done so I can get them the way I want them then maybe a sprint that's coming up at croft, hopefully get my first rally done around august time.

Dukeries Rally at Donington would be a good one to start with. Not damaging surface, some technical bits off track and fast flowing bits on track and its 20th August so fits with your dates plus Im doing it in my 1600 all being well :-)

Chris Ashtley might have owned it at some stage and done subsequent work, but the cage, turrets, top mounts, rear coilovers, carbon fibre trim, stitch welding, paint & I think even harnesses are all the work of Graham De Suys:-

http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/car-talk/342447-pepe-nova-more-pics-added-chip.html

The plan was next to go side exit exhaust on G's 1600 8V so the back could come down even lower (not having issues with exhaust over the rear beam). The engine spec was enough for 125BHP at the wheels running twin 45's, full exhaust, think it was a BP300 cam & some head work. It kept lifting head gaskets & had to have ARP head studs.

For me in my early 20's, it had the biggest positive input on not only what could be achieved but how to be as a person; it genuinely felt like the true Saturday club.

BRoadGhost you may be getting this car mixed up or was this your mates before this work?

Hmm sh1t yes I have got the wrong car! But jeez; same engine, weld in cage & design, carbon trim, colour paint, MK2 front, even down to the colour & placement of bonnet pins!

I apologise!
