I would like to improve the gear shift on my GSI, don't mind coming inboard with it. I remember reading somewhere about using the shift from a Calibra, can't find the thread now any knowledge out there.
Engine coming out for complete paint job good time to sort it.
Thanks.

You can get good results without moving to cable, although it is an option.
Rosejointed linkage is a must. If there's play in your stick then an internal shifter (most 90s, early 00s Vauxhalls have something you can use). Have a search through my WIP thread and there's a different selector turret you can fit for a more positive engagement.
All of these lead to a tight and positive feeling shift.

Thanks everyone, great articles, any idea where I could find a Cavalier internal shifter its called a Vectra in my neck of the woods not many around.
Cheers
Go to the scrapyard and look for one with a white cage under the centre console. A very similar design comes in Corsas, Cavaliers, Vectras, Astras of the same era.
