So.. have spotted lovely set of wheels but they only come in a 17. Am wide track, wide arch so there will be no rubbing problems going by me measurements but with no power steering and a quick rack will i be able to turn the steering wheel? Any thoughts / experiences boys?

Cheers.

When moving its easy only struggle I found was stationary but then again it's not as hard as say a mk4 Astra trying to turn the wheel when the engines off as the nova is much lighter

Offset and width will play a big part but I find 15s ideal 14s are good but offer poor brake choice. 16s are the biggest I'd really consider going unless it's some kind of show car

Had a play the day with a 15 and a 16 and looks like the perfect wheel is gonna be a 16x7 et 15. Looking at the 16 on has confirmed my fears.. 17's just too big. So have emailed comp about a set of MO's in the size.
Cheers guys.

Itll be fine when moving, and when stationary you shouldn't be scuffing the tyres up anyway, but mtfu lol

Depends on the other work you see yourself doing to not make them just fit, but work. I've had 13's, 14's, 15's, 16's and couldn't be happier at 17's.

Although I can't speak from experience driving hard on a cut slick yet (only a street radial) if you're pushing say more than 250hp you'd find a 205/40R17 beats a R16 or 15etc purely because an tyre will have better cooling & stability. If I'm braking for a corner down from 110MPH I know which I'd rather be on.

The construction of the tyre changes with increased size to enable these benefits, not to mention you can get some proper brakes under a larger wheel that wont have to work as hard for the same results. The other thing to mention is; all things being equal (minus the wheels), you can only get the car lower on bigger wheels.

Touring cars are quite big things these days, but even 30 years ago they all used a standard sized 18"
