Hey guys just wondering as I have been reading about the turbo oil feed mod for the xe block to allow it to be turbo with low comp pistons and head plate, do you have to run some sort of fancy stand alone management or any other management in order to run the xe turbo or can I just use a C20LET loom cut to fit corsa/nova? Also for low comp pistons do the standard C20LET Pistons do well for an xe turbo? Help would be appreciated on this as I'm new to the whole turbo'ing a n/a block lollollol

As far as I know the c20xe and c20let blocks are the same just the c20xe one does not have the oil return from the turbo,so just put the c20let internals in the xe block drill and tap the block and jobs done and then just get hold of a c20let loom and wire that to the nova

As above, just don't buy a coil pack type xe

Thanks lads that's good to know I do not need to run a management kit in order to run:thumb: does anyone know or have a "how to guide" on tapping a turbo oil feed into an xe block? :)

Would it not be easier to drill and tap the sump rather then the block? Like lads do on mx5s etc..

The blocks aside from the oilway are identical.i discovered my 20xe had a let block bizarrely

You could even make an adaptor where the level sensor fits for brownie points

Would this be more beneficial than tapping into the block and by tapping into the sump I would be guessing a better oil feed mate?

Just easier to tap the sump

The oil feed comes from the back of the oil pump so it just to return the oil from the turbo

I can't moment on what would've better as I've never done it...but if it's do able it would easier and probably cheaper

Id be tapping into the sump pritty high if you do it this way above the oil level . im not saying im 100% correct but the return must be totaly free of any pressure as the turbo only relys on gravity to drain the oil and im sure if it cant get rid of it quick enough it will blow through the seals .
I can emagine blowing air through a clear straw it would be easy but then try blowing into a cup filled with oil and it would be alot harded i know there is no air in the system but wont the same apply with oil running down the return pipe.??

Agree with this.

Just get it drilled and tapped into the block as per a LET, that way you won't be wondering if the return is actually doing its job.

For all the pissing about with tapping blocks, changing pistons and management plus extra sensors etc, surely it would be cheaper and easier to just get and use a LET out of the box, so to speak...

As i mensioned in the wanted post . to build a let you are looking around £1000 just for gaskets n bolts n bearings ect to do it right . before you even buy engine components . id just save up the money you are planning on spending on parts gradualy n buy a tidy let for around £1200.
I had the same discusion with a mate of mine wanting to xe a corsa . he could have had my full xe conversion engine box the lot that would run 12sec quaters for 500 quid n yet he declined n bought a 200 quid scrapper xe that needs a full rebuild .

I've seen loads of posts similar to this over the years - either turbo'ing an XE or trying to build a let from an XE etc... in virtually every example its easier and less fiddly/stressful to source a let.
Yes they are slightly more expensive, but at least you're getting everything you need!
