Now... my C20let was rebuilt a while ago, not run since, I went to spin it over today and it won't. All span fine before and now it's solid. Everything inside is fresh and measured to spec. Any ideas chaps?

When you say spin over what are you on about? On the starter or with a bar?

A bar, don't budge by rocking the car in gear either

I left a freshly built engine for three years and it span over fine...

Has as it been in a damp environment? Take the plugs out and try a bigger bar with the cambelt cover off to see what's sticking.

Very daft chance but pull the dip stick out mate and make sure it hasnt got caught up in the crank . I know it might sound stupid but i have got a freshly built motor here that i have just bought im sending it for rebuild next week just to make sure it has all been done properly ect ect as i dont know whos done it .
However turned it over with a bar last night to have a look down the plug holes to see pistons and it made a horible metal on metal noise .shit my self n stopped and after further ispection the dip stick is touching the crank with after market stainless tube one .
Took it out noise stopped . Just another option mate

Will check as it has one but doubt it's going to lock it completely but I'll see.

wasn't it, will strip it down next week, what a pain! oh well i'd rather it'd happened now than on the verge of it being ready to start!

Sure a friend had this issue years ago, think either the mains or big end bearings had been sized wrong.

Defo got oil in it for it to spin? Mate did this on my let engine after rebuild. Try to turn it over with a bar and nothing I checked no oil in put some in and hey presto it turned over lol.

Should spin over fine with just the build lube or oil
