Nova worms back and got myself another nova xD

Knew it wouldn't be long before the nova worm comes back and I find myself with my second nova, just got hold of a tidy shell'd 1.2 nova merit, she's currently a project as hardly anything on the car, 2 engines which are the 1.2 engine and an x20xev engine and a lot of spares, thinking of possibly Z20LET'ing her has anyone done this before and what's the ball aches about doing it?? Or what about the 2.0 turbo Saab (scaab) engine??? :)

There's a few Zlet ones, but you have to mess about with the flyby wire stuff. which can be a pain.
Saab engine swap are becoming very pop as they are cheap and you get good enough power for a Nova.

All the same kinda work to do either really, mount and shaft wise.

Thanks for the reply mate so the engines are the same fitting wise? What's the difference between the 2 as I was told the power ratio are a very identical setup, would the Saab engine also need a stand alone ECU as I have read up that the Z20LET does require one because all of the sensors ect ect :)

will get some up as soon as comps back and working again matey, only a little 1.2 merit but she's very clean needs rear arch welding a tad and a new front end spot welded on then she'll be a clean little motor again :)

The saab engine in to a nova requires hacking out the offside chassis and refabbing loads . I've seen pictures of it done well and pictures of it done with angle iron lol

P.s not alpt of people seem to speak about it enough but saab engines even the early ones are nothing amazing they only take abuse if maintained well. They are not a bullet proof engine from my experience

No engine will take abuse after poor maintenance

Thanks lads it's early days yet, I've currently got an x20xev and heard these where common in novas however correct that is? I would love to turbo her but is it really worth all the hacking to a poor old nova :lol I guess we shall see sooner the time lol would love to get to know a few people that have done it as would be good to see how they have gone through the procedures for future reference, does anyone know how much it would cost for a stand alone ECU and a wiring loom to plug in and play with the nova and z20let conversion? :)

Haha Saab and z20 conversion are nothing alike whatsoever lol take a look at my build thread for a z20 conversion, most of the bits from that build will be for sale soon anyway so may be able to help you out :thumb:

Now that's what i've said, but been told 3 times that's only on the later 2.3 engine, not the 2lt...

They are all the same it's just massively common on the later 2.3 engines. Its mainly caused by people or garages not using my fully synthetic oil

Sorry thought you had quoted the engine problems.

The blocks on the early 2ltrs and 2.3 are the same it's just stroked out...same with the later engines so I can't see why or how that would be the case

I was always told the early 2.3 from a 9000 use a wider casing so don't fit in a corsa

Yes there are taller blocks I'm not 100% which model and what years ran them
