Hi all, just got a nova last week and the bulbs that would usually illuminate the speedometer etc are blown, making it hard to see what speed is being done in the dark etc.
Does anyone know exactly what type of bulbs I need for it and how I'd go about fitting them?
It's just a standard mk2 speedo not a digi dash.
Thanks all

Standard T5 bulbs are the ticket. I suggest getting some LED ones for better visibility, but don't get those really long ones or they won't fit. I got some from http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/ and they worked a treat.

Carefully remove the cluster from the dash, careful about the wiring and the speedo cable, and you'll see two large (black) twist to pull out/lock type things (one on each side), remove, replace bulb, and insert. Check to see if they light BEFORE installing everything again.

Would I be better of using capped or capless bulbs for the speedo? In terms of size

Theres 2x 501 bulbs in there too

286 bulbs are the small ones. Best getting them with the black cap bases already on. Nip into halfords to look at them to compare first. Buy them cheap on ebay

T5/501, aren't they the same? At least I've always thought they're the same..

And yeah, the 286 bulbs are the ones for the turn signals/oil pressure light, and so on, but for the Speedo and Tach and so on, they're the former bulb type.
