Has anybody put a type R engine and box in a Nova ,I was at the rolling road today where they were mapping an Elise with a K20 engine ,with only slight induction mods it made 260 bhp ,apparently a stock engine from a breakers yard £1500 .it has got me thinking !

Not that I remember of but there was a guy who fit another Honda engine iirc.

Not seen one either but they fit in minis so would go in a nova. My mates old k20 dc2 was 264bhp that was the same a few breathing mods and an aem ecu. Went very well.

It seems a cheap option ,would cost a lot of money to get an XE to that power and then it would be highly stressed ,plus the Honda should be lighter ,

Are you guys sure on these power figures and mods? Seems a bit of a reach a few breather mods making 50 odd hp

A quick Google and a set of itb's only claim 30hp increase...

Powercaps on xe novas takes them to 190bhp

True

It seems strange that my uncle went to the lengths of turbo charging his k20 elise and it only made sub 320hp when he could have chucked in a cotton filter and a larger throttle body :/

My mates one had a full engine rebuild but that won't gain any power. I'll see if he's still got the printout. Oh and it was a dc5 k20 which is 220 bhp standard

Can't make out the exact power figure in the pic but you can see its between 250-275. That was the printout from Birmingham where he bought it got it on the rollers up here at 249bhp

But what had it had done? I honestly dont see minor mods making that much power....I'm not going to mention torque I'm promising myself lol

F20 S2000 engines are 240 bhp standard - but are a pig to get any decent gains from. Could it have been one of those (they look the same!)

Either way they would be a hoot in a Nova

Could well be ,as I know nothing about them ,I was guessing that as it was an Elise it would be a transverse setup ,where the s2000 is longitudinal ,not sure if the bell housings are the same

Getting power out of a K20 or B16/B18 isnt hard at all. A reliable 500bhp IS achievable. Look on youtube for plenty of sub 700hp turbo Civic/Preludes etc etc.

Fitting one into a Nova tho.... gearbox is on wrong side for a start lol and considering the ECU for a B18 is the size of a kellogs box theres a whole lotta loom to squeeze in there aswell!

TBH, youd be better off buying a B18 engined civic for £2k couple of small engine mods an then sticking a funkypower turbo kit onto it and running 12 seconds from the off for under £5k.

If my circumstance was different I probably would take the running gear from an S2000 & shoehorn it all under a standard nova body

I did look at this ,it looks a reasonably easy fit ,if I can find some enthusiasm and they let me race in the series I want with one then I might give it a go
