Peirberg Carb issues Mk1 1.2

Hi People,

First time posting on here and figure if anybody knows Novas it's you.
I'm looking for advice. The car warm or cold would completely lose power and cutout and not restart.
We towed it to a garage who managed to get it running with Easystart (the fuel filter was full of fuel so fuel was getting to the carb)
The garage set the carb up for me and the car ran great for about a month. Now whether the weather or engine is cold or warm it doesn't matter, it's a complete lottery whether the car will fire up.

Theres a definite flat spot at low revs, without labouring the car if you step on the throttle even just a little it is prone to cutting out.

Do any of you know what I could do differently to get it running better.

might be worth checking the fuel filter on the carb, theres normally a plastic one inside the inlet pipe that blocks up over time, also if your happy with stripping a carb pull the top off and check the jets aren't blocked

Was the carb refurbished when the garage looked at it?

It could be also an air leak on the carb to the mounting.

The carb was refurbed and initially it had built up with crap and the jets were clogged. Obviously he's flushed it all out but the intermittent problem persists.
I'm ging to have a look at the weekend but I've never rebuilt carbs before so sit tight. lol

Thanks for the input mate. I'll have a word with my old man next time I see him as he knows carbs way better than I.
I've actually found Webber kits on eBay now for £169. Very tempting.

The Pierburg 1b carb that comes on the 1.2 is fairly easy to disassemble. I'd happily come over and show you if you lived near by, I find it quite enjoyable/therapeutic taking apart and servicing a carb.
