I am getting some wobble both through the steering and the body under hard braking, there is also an occasional small wobble detected on some roads when going downhill (ie no power on).

The rear brakes have been completely overhauled as a cylinder was leaking but since then this wobble has started.

I would have said it is brake discs (new 20k ago) but just seems to be a coincidence that it is just after doing the back brakes?

I would of said it was the front discs warped slightly, I can check them with a dti gauge but probley wouldn't hurt just to replace them

Mounts, bushes, top mounts, warped discs.

Did you put the rear hub nut on to the right spec? You don't want to over-tighten them

Just had the MOT so assumed all bushes etc were fine (seemed ok when I checked them before the test too). I'll try new discs first and check bushes etc again, hopefully just bad timing regarding the rear brakes!

Try bedding them in again, you might simply have uneven transfer layer which feels like warping

Hoping not to sound stupid here, do you mean the new rear ones?

Have you had your wheels balanced?

Have you had your wheels balanced? Yes, it only started 2 weeks ago and is mostly just on hard braking.

I have been outside to check everything and as ar as I can see the bushes are all good (despite being 32 years old). The rear is tight and the front tie bar ones have no movement, the control arm bushes have no movement up or down but side to side there is about 1mm but it is not free movement, to me if feels as if it is just flex in the rubber.

The rear brake on the driver's side seemed to rub the hub slightly unevenly as the hub is spinned with one notch on the handbrake if that makes sense? ie the shoe isn't always touching. I put on new shoes today and it is the same, the hub visually looks ok.

I have found rear drums to cause brake judder if they have been dropped or hit in the wrong place this was on a corsa c after new rear shoes and drums were fitted

Thanks, I've ordered two rear drums so fingers crossed.

Don't forget you'll need new bearings as well.

I have fitted new shoes, drums and bearings on the back, left the self adjusters at minimum. They haven't self adjusted so I'll need to do that manually however, there is still judder under hard braking so it can't be the rear as presently there is almost no brakes at the rear.

For the front I have replaced the discs, the pads are just about a year old and I couldn't find any slack mounting so I am totally puzzled. I also can't see or feel any uneveness/lumps in the tyres.

looking back through the thread just a couple of things I would do now.

bleed the whole braking system for any air and possibly upgrade your fluid?? You said you overhauled a rear cylinder and this is when your problems started......to me I would check and double check the fluid system again...perhaps the cylinder is no good or both rear cylinders need changing?

also, have you tried the rear tyres on the fronts just to eliminate any tyre issue you may have, although I find this unlikely, just another thing to try.
