In my quest to turn my daily into another undrivable track car I've been wondering about ratios. In standard form what is the best f10 box? I run a 5spd one on my 1.3 currently, but remeber the 4spd being a lot quicker through the gears on my mates old 1200. So can a hybrid be made? Cheers

The housing is almost the same, you can put all insides to other housing.
F10 is like F13WR. F15 has little shorter first gear, and little other 2. and 3. gear. What you feel difference, is the CR and the WR, and the final ratio.
In the F15 is not so easy to change the final ration, the pinion is one piece with the shaft.
1-4 is from one piece, you can just change the 5. CR 0.892 to wider WR 0,756 or the rare 0,707. That is like you put the gear from 4. to 6. It make sense if you have close final ratio, like 4,18 4,29 or 4,53 use the car on track, and go to the track on street.

If i was you, the best box that i've had in mine was an F13CR box with a 4.18 FD, ideal ratios with nice gaps between and the FD means you bring the overall down to suit more of a track/rally orientation.

Don't get an F15 as you cant change the FD on those.

There are some differences in the F10 casing too and is supposedly weaker

4.29 FD is nice also but a bit rarer than the 4.18

Millworm I have a 4 speed f10 that came out of my car just sitting here, your welcome to rape it for parts or it will just end up down the tip.

Hmm ok, f13 is bigger than an f10 isn't it tough? Or is it just flywheel that's bigger?

Flywheel is bigger. internally there are no differences to allegedly let it take more power lol

The F15 can have its FD changed, but its like the F20/F16 in the way that the pinon is part of the output shaft so needs a full strip down to swap.
