Wondering what I could expect to pay for;

A) refurbishing 15" wheels
B) refurbished 15" wheels, but re-done/painted black
C) Same as above but smokey/chrome/black (lol)

My 15's were pretty knackered when I bought them, but finally got a job and I'm planning a road/rally style Nova, with cage, 2ltr and black bumpers/wheels...Like that nice one on here with the fibreglass boot! Hehe...

Trying to tott up all my prices...so I can start planning.

Any help, would be apreciated BIG TIME!!

if you know how to use wet n dry, masking tape and can hold a spray can do them yerself.

I did mine last year using the above and they came out absolutely mint!

Its really easy.

Clean up wheels - sand back scuffs (if v deep you may need to get them filled by specialist but miost will vanish when you spray them).
prime using standard primer
smooth back
mask off wheel rubber or better still have the wheel rubber totally removed
spray
allow to harden for a week in warm area (you can actually get an alloy in a standard oven - leave overnight on v low heat to harden paint)
spray with lacquer - 3-5 coats.
alow to harden
buff up.
have rubber refitted (or unmask wheel).

If leaving wheel on, jkust put the entire wheel inc alloy in a dustbin liner, seal up, cut a rough hole where the alloy is then run masking tape around the edge of the alloy and the bag, sealing the wheel in but exposing the alloy.
then stuff the centre with newspaper.

If youre totally changing colours (black) then i recommend removing the wheel.

A pro may charge you anywhere (depending on state of wheel and paint) -?100 to ?300+ depending on effect.

Most get done when they get car resprayed...

Sounds interesting, but hard to believe at the same time.

Got any pictures of your wheels? Ijust can't imagine how they come out looking any good!!

I think I'll ask a few people I know how much they'll charge for refurbishment, then look into painting them myself - although it sounds pretty sketchy if you ask me!!!

Will I need 4tonnes of wet and dry? LOL!

No disrespect meant, but dont dis-miss Ades advice.

The guy is a trained model maker and painted his own car last year using techniques that

a) save money
b) that the profesionals use

Ade knows what he's doing and knows what he's talking about. If you've never done any sort of model making or preperation work, then yes, this could sound a bit strange, but profesionals use similar methods. Ade's car looks amazing. Look in his feature to see how good a job he did on it, it looks like he took it to genuine re-sprayers.

Mate, I fully took in what he said and I'm going to try what he said on my buckled wheel, which is being replaced. If it turns out alright, or I can see how I can make it better than I'll have a go at all my wheels.

I'll go try find his car now.

Honestly m8 its easy and if you can hold a spray can and know the basics of how to spray you'll do a good job!

Just take your time and dont go mad.

Also - watch the lacquer - its invisible and you can create runs VERY easily!

LOL at blue peter style hero ADE!!! Can you make a spoiler out of Cornflake boxes and sticky back plastic?????

They seem to do on the SAXO forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only joking, ADE's car looks top, and the model nova's are something special... can't wail for the fist on to be finished!!!

Anyway, one of the guys in the ford mags did his wheels in a mag the other month. he used "satin black" cos it goes on evenly and they looked like a pro job. he estimated it at a tenner.....

I'd have a go if i were inclined for dark wheels!!!!!!!!!
