First post so go easy lads...............

I bought this from a lad in Manchester it seems its been an ongoing project for a number of years
& couple of owners but never got finished if anyone knows any previous history please put it up.
good or bad no matter first pics of when I got it & now I will strip & do it properly........................

It does have some nice bits with it all new parts, poly bushed, new brakes, new cage & buckets
wheel stud conversion grp boot & a heap of mixed spares 2l 8v & c20xe bits looms ect
all of which i don't need will be going cheap to clear my shed.

I will needing some wiring info as ive never done a nova but I do everything myself bodywork, paint
welding ect I am marine engineer & boat bodger lol I do a lot of grp repairs i am considering
make a full grp or carbon flip front or make individual panels I'm missing wings & as it has hatchback
arches I'm not sure if i want to keep them ?? as I only want to make a mold once so I need to decide
before hand once its stripped & have a better idea of what I need to deal with an what route I'm going.......

What are your plans for the car, whatever they are it looks like you've got your work cut out, not found any rust yet or have you not gone lucking for it yet?

I do a lot of grp repairs i am considering make a full grp or carbon flip front or make individual panels...

That sort of comment will get you some attention on here, and if you go the Carbon route you can expect to receive a number of requests for copies (certainly of the individual panels), and I'll probably be amongst them :d

Good luck with it.

Hi Matey there is no rot it was a ongoing project for 5 years shell is seam welded & strengthened just found a couple of
doggy welds that I have started to address I will make it road legal & track/hill climb when I have free time.

whether the 16xe will be quick enough for me mmm prob not priority is getting it running....
I just need to sort the wiring & fuelling as I want it running asap
pedal box needs doing I don't have a clue what parts are used on this or what fits and what doesn't.

Transponder wires are cut I need to know where these go & how to wire into the nova loom ah the joys lol

Aye the slight mention of carbon gets everyone hard lol

Cheers Matey pic of your s1 ???;)

Yes the boot is fibreglass I didn't plan on taking a mould off the boot as I though there wouldn't be a demand for them
the cost of the materials wouldn't cover just making 1 to sell, but if more people wanted one then I would consider doing
so.

You got a build thread on your loon??? :thumb:

Well if thats the case i definetely want one from you!

Think it could be done easy enough? more and more saloons are appearing now so i bet there would be a few who would want one.

It would be ideal for my hillclimb car to shave some weight off the back, easy enough to mount some nuts in to take the standard hinges too?

Ok the main boot area is simple enough the mounting area to the hinge will need some thought and some supports to stop
the flexing might be better glassing in a metal plate with a stud, nuts tend to come slack over time or pull through the grp,
could use pins for ease of removing it ??
It would be good to get the weight of the standard boot lid & il try & work out a weight for a grp one & see how much I can
shave off it.

Do you have any other grp panels on yours buddy?? any pics of yer motor ;)

boffer8
25-06-16, 08:40 AM
Yea studs would be excellent, much prefered over nuts as they always turn into a pain!

Prefer not to use pins where i can, saves hassle.

I do have a spare saloon boot lid that you could have to use as a mould if required? someone has broken into and damaged the lock area but that shouldn't make any difference for this. Means i can weigh one also?

I will be having a GRP bonnet with a special intake scoop soon enough, just getting round to getting it sorted more than anything.

No pics of it lately but will be updating my thread soon as i have been doing a lot of work recently on it.

I don't need a boot buddy I will use the grp boot I have it would be good if you could weigh it & I will check the difference between them.
Prob weld up stainless plates with studs to suit the original hinges & I can just see me inside the boot glassing upside down to seal the
frame & skin (great lol)

I need to find decent wings to take a mould from as my nova came without them & ive got someone else wanting a grp set!!

boffer8
22-07-16, 11:08 PM
Yea I can weigh it to see and let you know pal

yea stainless would be great, that would be a right laugh! Not!

you after saloon wings or normal ones?
