Fan not working

Rebuilding my engine replace and new radiator but keeping the switch fan everything else seems to be ok temperature gauge is halfway he is working but the fan doesn't seem to kick in everything is nice and warm one of my mates say they might be in the air lock cause the problem?

short the temp switch on the rad and you will probably find the fan will then work. Thus new switch needed.
