Hi all

got nothing working on heater fan speed 1&2 but speed 3 still works so couldn't be the motor?

speed 3 works fine as does rear window & another switch doesn't work.

I have tested all wiring with multimeter and seems ok with the exception of....

if I turn the fan to speed control 1 I get 12v at both wires for 1&2 aswell as turn it to 2 and 12v at 1&2

If I apply a direct feed to the speed wires separately nothing happens, only speed 3 picks it up

if I continuity test the 2 wires, it picks them up in a loop but shouldnt that be incorrect?

Wouldn't the switch change the feed to each speed separately so should only have 12v at each stage when the switch turns to it rather than 1&2 both becoming live at the same time?

So have the wires shorted one may think? Or is that right on anyone else's?

I found the the fuse all blown and melted and have now replaced and works ok (power both sides of wiring with fuse in) so that leads me to think about crossed wires

Not got a clue where my nova manual is to check wiring guide

Anyone had had similair issues?

There is a resistor on top of the blower motor itself.
see what the connections look like.
has it been caught in any heavy rain that could have leaked into it?

Dash out job? It's been a while.

Not sure I've not long had it but yeah I'd imagine it would have been in a lot of rain

It's under the bonnet under the plastic cover, to the right of the battery.

Yep the resistor sounds a likely cause for this. I think it's green.

Will it look burnt out on knackered? Or will I need to test it in a circuit

Need testing really, but it might well look fooked!
