Hello I have an e16se with
Block skimmed
Head skimmed

Adjustable cam pulley

I have set my cam belt 3x now and I still find after running the car every now and then my cam belt is worryingly slack.
I have put a paint mark in th water pump so I know that it is not moving.
Can anybody help plz????
I have a the nova booked in for a rolling road set up on the 24th march so need 2ake sure that its ok or if there is anything I can do to sort it out. Cheers

Yes there is
That'll be the problem.
run the shorter belt, remove the auto tensioner and use the water pump
Yep.its the 104tooth belt you want.

This is the short belt that is fitted 2 the 1.2 I have a new 1 at the garge due 2 a wrong order in the past.
Why does it do this ???
Is it to do with the camshaft/adjustable pulley????
Is it because I have skimmed the head and the block and shortened the gap between the crank pulley and the cam pulley ????
Or something else???
Cheers I will swap it over 2day

Thank you both very much, I have been trying to work this out for a while ( What would I do with out PNG!!)
How much was taken off the faces?
my block is standard as we cant touch the block but my head is 94.2mm
The adjustable pulley should help this as you can retard it slightly to take up the slack.
Theres two belts fitted to the 1600-104 tooth for no tensioner and 111 for using the tensioner. Not sure what the 1.2 one has to do with it?

I am not sure how much was taken off, I think it was as little as needed so I has 2 good clean surfaces, all machining work was done at ian myers York.
I has a gates 104 tooth belt I am not sure if it will fit a 1200 now seen as I have realised that it was ordered for my e16se. but when I pulled the engine apart it would not fit due to not being long enough.
I've seen new tensioners on unskimmed engines being poo... Autotenensioners on the 8V, just dont do it :D

Stuart are you saying irrespective of having the head/block skimmed that the best system to run on an 8v is the 104 tooth belt with no auto tensioner?
