After some advice as to some perhaps "best practice" or tips on removal of dashboard & contents that aren't in the Haynes manual.
Anything useful gratefully recieved !

Mk 1?
Pretty straight forward, just take your time
Steering wheel off, column shroud, switch stalks
centre console/lower shelf out, radio, glove box
Pop the clocks, remove speedo cable, and electrical plug/earth,
centre console removed and plugs
Remove outer heater vent pipes
Remove dash
Probably forgot something
Does that help?
Thanks Royston - always best to ask those who've carried out these jobs before . . .
Mr Haynes can be economical with the truth sometimes . . .

PS Mk1
Aside from the obvious screws/bolts on a mk1 dash - there are less obvious ones 'behind' the centre vents you can get to term in situ though. then there are two m8 nuts - 1 behind the clocks (ish) and one behind the glovebox (ish)
Lump hammer and source a mk2 replacement lol
Thanks for the pointers - duly noted. Apart from that Mk2 business . . .
