Don't buy gasless! Buy cheap buy twice. If it's just for cars a 150amp will do you. But if you get into welding and want to make gates or weld plate etc you will need to spend more. You have to look at duty cycles to see what welder would suit you best. Duty cycles are how long you can weld before the welder needs to cool down. It's worked out in 10 minute cycles. 1 minute = 10% duty cycle. Which means 1 minute welding and 9 minutes for the welder to cool down before it can be used again.

Also most bottom end Clarke etc machines are fitted with their own style torch that cost stupid money to replace if it breaks. Whereas if you buy a mig with a eurotorch they are cheaper to replace. If I were you your better to buy a second hand quality machine than a cheap new one.

£25 to replace via eBay....

Can even get the parts to convert to a eurotorch from ebay for about £60ish.

The cheapest 151 torch I can find on eBay is over £70 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarke-Mig-151te-Mig-Welder-Torch-/151980914495?hash=item2362c4b73f:m:mCiXZeQupom1pgQ 4c1THMJg

Any common torch will fit any welding unit.

Ergo, eBay item number: 41782440819

Ive replaced a torch on a welding unit before with a generic non branded one, went on fine & worked fine.

Edit: Just to add, since 2004 Ive had 3 different mig welding units. I now have a 151TE, for its price (£258) it was well worth the money for homebrew/DIY jobs its more then man enough.
