View Full Version : Cams setup problem
Hello, I tried putting the head on my redtop myself, I set the Pistons half way up the cylinders before I set the head on, then I set the cams in, the cams will rock back and forth but that's it, they won't do a full rotation, and I don't want to do anything else incase I damage them, I know Iv proberly just done something stupid but this is my first time attempting this,
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers,
Are you cam caps back where you took them off from?? and torqued down to correct torque?? also did you build it up using plenty of oil??
note you have to turn them both otherwise the valves may collide with each other
I just put oil round the cam before I put it in, I didn't know the cams had to be torqued down aswell, I'm thinking I might just leave it to an engine builder and ask him to set it up for me ready to drop in, just incase I damage it,

cam caps should be torqued to 20nm if i remember correctly:thumb:

These are lower torque settings than would have been used with normal oil. We cannot be held responsible for rod bolt stretch when an uncalibrated torque wrench has been used.
