im building my C16SE soon with new rings/bearings the lot, what do most do for bedding in after builds i keep seeing one person do one thing then others do it different. How many miles of steady driving before safe to gun it at top revs because it will be going on track days???
I suspect all you'll get as answers is the different opinions you've already read. Make friends with an engine builder and follow their advice.
On my last two iv had them on the limiter on my first race.Cant exactly race at half revs lol

I tend to do about 500 gentle miles shift at no more than about 4 but it's important to get it through the rev range. Then change oil and thrash the granny out of it

You really need the block honing otherwise not much point in running in.

I ran millers 10/40 running in oil in my e16se
These engines weren't exactly looked after when new. Once its been warm, you should just get on with it. Running in was made irrelevant by the time this engine was introduced.
