I have an F13 Quaife sccr gearkit/box. I need to change the final drive to a 3.933 from a 4.533 (old one for sale in classifieds).

I need to change to an F15 casing it seems for the new final drive, F17's seem a lot more common though these days.

Does anyone know the physical internal differences, if any, between an f15 and f17 box?

Does anybody know any reason why i cant out my Quaife kit in to an F17 case.

Is yours the F13 with removable pinion or are you changing the entire output shaft?

I always believed the F13/F15 casings were interchangable - dont know about the F17 - but I just weighed in an f17 casing this morning! Why cant you use the F13 casing you already have?

Paul.

Mine is the later fixed pinion type, i have to get a 3.933 final drive from quaife for it, they only do it in the f15 fitment, not the f13 fitment (f15 uses a different dimension on one bearing it appears) I know i can use an f15 casing 100%, it just appears the f17 casing is easier to get hold of these days.

Cheers.

on that basis, it implies you can interchange the geatkit, just you need to pick the right bearing size

Good info there, 3 bearings listed...24 and 25 inner with 44.5 outer and a 24 x 44 by the looks of it. It'll probably be that id need a 25 x 44 to make it fit, sods law.

Sounds the same deal as the F16/f18/f20 setup then

Couple of small differences in the parts and bearings but the gearkit can be fitted to any of the casings with the correct size bearings..

Are f15s that difficult to find? I thought Mk3 astra smallblocks (1.4 / most 1.6) had them fitted as well as Corsa B and C..?

I have an F13 sccr in an F13 casing, it has the fixed pinion gear on the shaft and i wanted to change the FD to a 4.5 instead of 4.8. The F15 FD i got has a larger nose that inserts into the bearing so the bearing housing in the case had to be enlarged to suit an F15 bearing. They are not always interchangeable so be careful...
