I have just had my quaife diff rebuilt which has come back with new bearings on.
I can see in the retaining ring (Pic below) is the outer races of the bearings. Can these be removed to be changed? And what is the best was of removing them/fitting the new ones?
And the same question for the other side? where the outer race is fitted into the gearbox casing?

Any help is much appreciated!

They're punched out, it's just a steel race pressed into the alloy

Same on the other side, unbolt it from the gearbox and remove them

Should have little bits missing so you can get a punch down behind them to tap them out?

Before you use a punch to push them out, make sure you heat them up, the removable large castle nut: stick in the oven and the bearing shell should just fall out. Heat the casing up for the other one should slide out a lot easier.

When putting the new ones in, put the new races in the freezer and then heat up the alloy again and then they should just drop in
