I know the standard mounting points are totally awful in the dash, so has anyone fitted front speakers in enclosures or similar, without having to cut or drill the door cards or doors?

im not massively into stereo shiz but have loads of 13cm speakers and would rather make the most of them!

pics would also earn extra points...

Could do like i did and remove some of the wood from the door cards so the sound comes thru them. Then fit the speakers in the doors. No cutting of the cloth on the cards that way... Sound is still 100%.

Ah ok, yes I could do that. Did you remove all the wood/card, or just trim?

I only play with mk1. There certainly is room under a mk1 dash to hide some better speakers. It's way easier to pull the whole dash out to do anything.

Any time.

I trimmed the wood/card off where marked in the photo only, so the corner still have the edge to keep it strong. As i didn't want it to bend or dis-shape. Think i trimmed the foam like layer under that too. To just leave the marital.
The marital over the front on a std card is quick thin, so the sound travels through easily.

I just didn't want the speakers on show and hate holes cut in to the door cards. So this seemed like the best of both.
I can get you a video if you want, the sound is great.

Get boxed speaker units (like in the 90's!) and fit them under the seats, That's what I do with minis so you can't see them.
