steering problem

rite then on my nova there is play in the steering on one side only (passenger) . drivers side is fine. the play seems to be where the tie rod joins into rack itself. it is not the tie rod end as i have changed them.
has anyone taken a rack apart?? can this joint be tightened ?? i presume its a ball/socket arrangement and the rod is able to be taken out??

Yep it all comes apart and you can service it although if its old most peeps would just service exchange cos its easier, quicker and prolly not that more expensive in the end. It may have loosened but its more likely to be worn throughout

how does that joint come apart / tighten up ?? could i do it by leaving it in the car and slipping the rubber rack boot off ?? like i said its only 1 side thats got play so if i can repair i would rather do that than waste money on a heap tbh
