Warning for anyone running RallyDesign's PolySport (or maybe even PolyRace) bushes

Having just removed some from my front arms, I have discovered they are only 50mm wide and not the OE 52mm wide. This pulls the shell mounting point in when you bolt them up, and will leave you having to find a way to bend it back out when you change to an OE sized bush, or it won't fit.

2mm doesn't sound like a lot but I'd probably rather not have my shell pulled in further than it should go.

Sounds less than desirable Ian, I have a yellow set on my 1.3SR, on a plus point three will be a datum fixed side and a floating side (which would have pulled up) being the front face

Body shells have large tolerances so shouldn't have affected geometry too much.

Yes I imagine it pulled the front face in, and in fariness I've driven on them for three years without complaint, just thought I'd share the info when there are correctly sized bushes out there to buy.

A bush should need grease to slide in place; if not then penny washer shim. 2MM is a lot.

Let me clarify, it's the steel insert that's undersize as well as the bush.

Get what you pay for I guess

I've only ever used Powerflex on all my builds

I can't see it as a huge issue tbh. 1 mm either side should pull in when you tighten the bolt. It'll probably spring back 1 mm when you take it off again.

as long as long as the bolt is tight and the bush is tight in the chassis it won't cause any problem.

It doesn't spring back again, I had to force it back. Up to you though isn't it.

Is there a steel tube in the middle?

Yes.

It is the length of this tube which is important, not the width of the bush so you could just pack it with a washer if its too short...or cut a tube the right length

^When you buy new bushes you expect them to fit not pack them up with washers or cut a new piece of tube.

This

A TCA with new bushes should just need gently tapping into place. Any cutting of tube, fitting washers, bending the shell etc is taking the piss

Mine fitted pefectly, well a bit tightly. Tapped the arms in tofit.
