Anyone got any pics of where they go?
As said in previous posts got engine in bits. think it's The way it should be but not totally sure. Car runs like a bag of crap will having the vacuum pipes the wrong way cause this??

Also not convinced the dizzy is in the correct position anyone got a pic of there's?? Would be very greatful. Seen that there's a arrow on the casing of the dizzy and a mark on the cam carrier but when there lined up engine sounds like a Subaru!
Defo not the timing I've checked no1 is tdc and notches line up perfectly... Driving me mad! Thanks in advance

Have you checked the ignition timing with a timing gun?

I haven't yet but can't as it won't stay running long enough.

You should be able to turn the dizzy by hand to at least get the engine to run continuously, then set it properly. I'm not sure the vacuum advance would give you such big running issues

It starts but if you try to use the throttle it dies. Going to try another new set of leads & dizzy cap. Just sounds like it miss firing. It's got a pierburg 2e carb, are these manual or auto choke? No choke cable came with the engine

To 2e carb is auto choke and they arnt that reliable to be honest, you can check if it is stuck with the choke on by looking at the top flaps on the top of the carb (with air filter off) if they are closed the choke is on.

Thanks will have a look in the morning. Driving me mad, one of the easiest engines to work on just being a total pain in the ass. Apart from twin 40's is there anything I can swap the carb for?

A twin choke weber 32/34 carb, should be a few old threads on here about converting to it as it was a fairly common swap back in the day.

cam timing. Different from ignition timing remember.

sounds like carb might be flooding the engine. Too much fuel?

If if you have set the ignition timing to standard..marks the other side of cam, then could well be carb set up.

how black are the plugs? I know they aren't going to be the colour you want as its not been running, but worth cleaning them up and seeing what happens wrt colour of them.

Took number one out to make sure it was tdc with a screwdriver and it was pretty black. It's only ran for a few mins with them in they were brand new

So after reading up on my carb it's a 2e3. Which from what I've read seem to be abit wank. I'm happy to adjust to auto choke, something to do with a spring I've got a fairly good manual downloaded but what I cannot find for love nor money is a diagram for the vacuum pipes?!!

Anyone got a good picture or know where there all supposed to go? Seems there fairly important on this carb and could
Be the cause of my problem.

I wouldnt touch your carb until you have set the ignition timing with a timing gun. you will need to remove the vac advance pipe to do that, just put something in the pipe to stop the air leak!

Diagram is great much appreciated, Cleaned the carb abit and seen its a 2e not a 2e3. Still struggling with the locations of the vacuum pipes

One from the dizzy?
One on rear of the inlet?
One on the rear of the carb?
One on the underside of air box?

Please help going mental! Thanks
