Right folks how many times have you heard " not for sale at any price " but I would say most things could be for the right price

I include myself with this as I would say that mines not for sale. But should I ever find myself in a position that I may need too I'd want 10k at least. A touch unrealistic at the moment but give it 5 / 8 years maybe ?

So how much would it take to part you with yours if price was not an issue. So come on let's hear from you

It all comes down to how rare the model of car maybe or how sentimental it is as well I suppose.

10k would take mine and all my parts. Would give me an excuse to get rid.

I don't care what people say but everything is for sale at the right price! lol My sr is extremely mint. There is a few age related marks due to age but totally rust free and underneath looks like a 2-3 year old car. If I sold mine I know 99.5% I could not replace it with one like it. So 20k buys it! lollol

Interesting thoughts. Recently a guy my dad races with was approached about selling his race car. Not for sale he said , name your price was the reply. So he called there bluff an they accepted a week later his car was gone. He realised in the end he could build one without the mistakes he made on the first an still have change.

So like ewan says everything has a price

Tbh I've no intention of ever selling it but if someone came up with 10k cash is prob take it. No ones ever going to pay that for a nova though. Parts cost me more than that never mind labour.

I dunno, whatever it was I know I would regret it. I could be persuaded to part with everything else, just not the Sport. I had to wait patiently for 12 years to get it and I would not find another as genuine and original as this one.

I literally thought I'd never sell my rx7 at any price but times change and hard cash talks lol. Got offered a price I couldn't refuse from a lad I work with and last week she went to her new owner. Was heart breaking watching her brap brap brap brap down the road with someone else but i still get to see her and i know its gone to a good home. I discussed it with the missus and we agreed it's time for something more reliable to road trip europe in. But now I get to buy a supra or a r32 gtr just need to choose. 1st world problems ey.....

Nick sold his last few Novas probably for good money, he's now got one in the making though which will be even better than his rest.

Keith has still his famous blue one but now he's rebuild it that bound to make it at least a 20k build for him.

It all depends on the individual and the circumstances. Value of vehicle is important, but if the person doesn't want to sell or not interested in selling, then value is irrelevant.
Some things in life are more important than cash itself, I personally wouldn't be interested in selling at any price. After 25 years of ownership the car owes me nothing. So why sell?
Yet if you need the cash, for whatever reason then the valuation of a car comes into play.

Thing is thats what I would consider the 'going rate', but seeing as I don't need/want to sell either of them at the mo it's a moot point. If someone came along and offered me £15k for the Super Bee I'd tell them they were an idiot and still not sell it to them lol

I had agreed a five figure sum with a chap just recently but it is dependant on another of his cars selling which hasn't happened yet so for now it's still with me. Not fussed really either way I only considered it as the novas only covered 50 miles in two years. I have very little time and motivation for it to be honest! My free time now is spent hitting the trails with my bikes. As for Keith he's a lifer! I can never honestly see him parting with it. We did discuss me buying it from him before I bought my current one but in the end he turned me down too!

I sold mine for 5k in 1995 then bought it back for £250 in 98 and it's possibly worth an honest 5k again but 5k doesn't get it.

wow I'm surprised that people are offering 5 figure sums for cars, if they are genuine, prices are on the rise. I'm equally surprised that you would sell nick I thought you were a lifer as well. It seems turbos an sports are where the money is at the moment.

Prices have been going up for years really as novas have been becoming more and more desirable. Many of us who had novas as a first car or one of your first cars are now in our thirties and have the money to come back to the scene throwing a good amount of cash in the process to re enjoy a car you had in your youth. The same happened with the ford escort mk1 and mk2's as they used to be available for nothing yet now command a huge price. Novas will follow without doubt as they will only get rarer and peoples projects also become more and more in depth. I think some sports and turbos have just been extremely well built hence their potential price tags but any well restored/built nova will do well. Rich' sport for example is one of a small minority... A true genuine original car with low miles in mint order so it doesn't surprise me he's had a good offer for it.

I received 7k almost five years ago now for A6vxl but heard C20tbo went for 9.5k a few years back and recently a low mile stock gsi did 8.5k. So don't really see five figures as out of the way for a project that's had two or three times that spent to restore/spec it to a stunning desirable standard If It's a car you really want. If I was to part with this nova I think that will be the end for me. I've achieved what I wanted to with my novas and are happy to bow out to concentrate on other areas of my life mainly being fatherhood and as said enjoying the trails on my bikes.

Just my opinion by the way! I'm sure many may disagree!

Nick.

It would take some serious money for me to sell mine. It would have to be way more than its actually worth, since it has a lot of sentimental value after 10 years of ownership and all the effort I've put into it. I doubt anyone would offer me enough to sell as its been built how I want it, its probably not near enough standard SR or crazy high specced enough for anyone else.

I think your right nick although a few years ago you would have got some funny looks mentioning Novas with escort
mk1 an 2's. But good sports turbos Gsi gte are getting harder to find in good condition. As I said 5 to 8 years time I think 5 figures will be achieved.

Are you not tempted to keep the car even if it only does a couple of shows a year and maybe for your son when he's older. I would guess he'll undoubtedly be in to cars it would be a lovely thing to pass on

Its one of them really... If it goes so be it but if not I will continue to use it now and again. As for Ethan I'm going to keep him as far away from cars as possible! However somehow I can't see that happening....

Mines already obsessed with the van and he's only 5 but a decent offer on it would take it sr should be done next year and I don't need 2 piles of Spanish rust

Richard, you can't be persuaded to part with everything else, trust me I have tried LOL.

its the Being from/in Norfolk thing, I've got most of my old GSi in the loft of the Garage still just awaiting for the right time to use some of the parts on the Sting! Although I still have the Sunroof when/if you want it Rich.

Now, if I have rebuilt the GSi then I doubt I would have got too much for it as it was the bastard lovechild of a GTE and GSi. I would think it would have only fetched £2-3k.
The Sting on the other hand, once I've got it to how I want it, it will probably be a 1 off, which is fairly rare in the Nova world, mainly because I don't want to go down the usual route of engine choice. plus because of this and some of the mods I would make, it wouldn't be to everyone's taste so would probably never sell it.

I could be persuaded to part with the Novas but, it would be for more money than I know I could get a better replacement, also bearing in mind when you buy a car there is the bad (or alternative) servicing and and bad repairs that have to be taken into account.

I have to say that my 1960 wouldn't be for sale unless it was a crazy and I mean crazy amount of money. Totally original with all age related marks as it is not restored. Owned by one family apart from 6 months before I got it. It is the type of car that is very difficult to rebuy.
