Looking to fully spaceframe my saloon and rear engine it for a race car. The class i will be running in literally has no limit on engine mods and cc so anything goes. It will only be used on a short ish oval mainly with others running FR redtops.

Would like to use something different from the rest but also be competitive! Did think about using a SR20DET.

What sort of power output do you want?

250 - 300 but needs to have torque as well. Also something thats got a wide range of parts available to it. Will tinker with different cams valves and all of its internals. Just need a good base to start of with.

1uz or 3uz is the other option but will need a manual conversion. Problem will be that you are limited to gearbags for longitudinal rear mount. Transverse engines will have a different selection again

I'd go for sr20 all day. I've personally had 3 in the past, in the form of a s13, s14 and a pulsar and have never had any major issues and 1 of them was 600+ bhp. They will take 380/400bhp on stock internals and have a cult following with endless tuning parts available and a oceans worth of information online. Plus they mate up to numerous different gearbox's.

Pulsar/Sunny SR20DET on a Primera/Almera SR20DE box will save all that carry on.
