So just finished my overtime/on call week, sunday night. and last week i worked my standard hours mon-friday 37.5 hours but as i was on call all week i had to be available to work at the drop of a hat, i ended up doing 60 hours over time so thats a total of 97.5 hours worked this week!!

What does everyone else work ??? and do you do overtime??

im not really moaning as it makes me good money, but our lass thinks its excessive and i should do less, but i told her most people do loads of hours

your thoughts please:confused::confused::confused::confused:

39 hours standard then up to 11 hours overtime when required - could do more but I choose not to lol

I do about 2 - 6 Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, then 7 - 6 Thursdays and Saturdays, and 3 - 6 on Friday. Only because school is in the way, otherwise 7-6 Monday to Saturday (carpenter with my uncle) and then Sundays 8 - 4 as a panel beater/sprayer/mechanic with my mom's manfriend.

Was 35, now changed to 37.5 with the new company but paid more to make up for it, they didn't want to give me a day and a bit a month extra holiday lol The past few weeks I've been doing between 45 and 60 hours (travel time is included) but get no extra pay or time off

beat was farming in the holiday from uni. Managed a few 110hour weeks at harvest.

I do 60+hours every week have done for the last 20 odd years

Basic is 37 but I could count on one hand how many times I've done 37 hours a week this year, actual hours worked is 50-60 with a couple slightly over 60 but that's rare. I don't work weekends either.

Would never do nearly 100 hours!

Edit: Also, my 'overtime' is paid at my standard rate of £7.20 per hour.

I do a nice Mon-Fri 9:30-5 every day, I can do more if needed but generally I finish all the work in those hours anyway. I get paid the same hourly rate for any extra hours I do, which isn't really a great incentive as then my free time seems worth more to me. In my last job after 10 hours overtime at time and a half, it then hit double time rate so it was well worth doing.

I'm a director of my own company and everything we do is on a price, so the quicker we finish the quicker we can get to the next job, we try and book as many jobs as possible hoping to get finished on the first one to allow us to make the start date at the next. Gets a bit hairy when we have delays as the building isn't ready.

Many a time we've done 16 hour days, but I try to keep it to 50-60 a week at the minute, I find it gets a bit counter productive if you get over 12 hours a day. Plus I end up with loads of paperwork to do in the office once I'm home so I'm up against it there!! Will be easier when we finally adopt and the good lady is at home and can get the paperwork sorted!!!

I'd never do overtime on standard rate. Been mention of bringing it in at our place...I'll be doing my 39 hours and not a minute more, regardless of how busy we are

I work in engineering and long hours are pretty much the norm .I work nights now , start at 5:30 pm and can finish at 2am but can work till 6 am . So we do as it's easy money and we get paid very well for it. My previous job I was a team leader of a bunch of mongtards and was regularly doing 60-70 hours a week . Now I work nights I see more of my wife and kids then I ever have done and don't need to do as much overtime as I used to . Once my GSI is done I'll cut back on the overtime hours and take it easy for a bit :)

Another director here. Get paid by the hour, although when i was in germany it was paid by the minute!

Peak build season throughout the winter ill do around 14 hours a day 5 days a week. Out of build season 8 ~ 10 hrs a day, depends if i can be bothered or if im out karting on the evenings.

Dont think ive done more then an 80hr week this year.

I worked in Germany for nearly 3 years!! In Sinsheim, close to Manheim. Love working with the Germans, I'm now an agent for them in the UK off the back of our efforts out there. We were doing 80 plus hours a week in the factory, loads of fun!!

I was just outside of Stuttgart, town called Mürr. Had a great time, repairing smashed DTM cars & building Porsche 919's lol i was working 7 days weeks out there on an unlimited hours contract. Then moved to Linz in Austria, lovely place!

Yeah its not a great incentive when the sales team are on commission and I don't know what the brewery lads are on but the head brewer and assistant brewer are salaried as is the sales manager and sales assistant, I think I've had enough of working for small companies.

I don't choose to do overtime, I don't have a choice, when the brewery is based just outside of Durham and I'm delivering in Leeds/York/Manchester/Sheffield/Edinburgh, I get back when I get back, has been 7am to 23:45 a couple of times!

Sadly due to the trade being up and down I've had my hours cut a bit again. Used to be 8 till 5:30 M-F.

I do 8:30 till 5 Mon to Friday and 8 till 1 on every other sat.

They cut all over till off to unless its a mega have to do it. But like above, if i'm still out after 5 for whatever reason, i get paid for it.

Plus I get to see the UK, have been all over and abroad, Norway, Dubai, Washington.

Flexi time - my "usual" hours are 640 til 1500 but I regularly work beyond that. Think the most I did was an application design project that was 0640 - 1900 then carried on when I got home til about midnight. For a couple weeks lmfao

Problem with flex is its great to be able to take a day here or there but it stops you getting paid overtime. In reality most of us here get so up on flex we either lose it or forget about it

I refuse to do on call though!

I had flex at MBDA, they were dicks and didn't understand how it worked... eg if I really wanted to, I could do the 37.5 hours Mon-Tuesday and not come in the rest of the week, but that would cost more time than you'd worked... Ummmm NO. So in the end I used to cook the books and have a week off but I'd book 5 Fridays off instead to keep more holiday in the bag so when I left or needed time off for interviews I was up

39 hours a week job and knock
Once that's completed then can do overtime if it's there. Known as ghost over time. 17 and half hours last week probably did 11.

Just done this weeks time sheet already... While the mess is fresh in my head
41.5 hrs and not got to Friday lol

Granted 5 hours was sat on a train doing nothing as it was delayed and another 3.5hrs on the train tonight but hey, it all counts in their eyes..
Kinda jealous of my boss as hes off to Australia for a week, but as travel time is bookable, that'll be almost a week and a halfs worth of time alone lol

Sadly we don't get to have in cash or loo :(

I am salaried at 37hrs per week. I pretty much stick to that but I am always on call from my team, and always have my company blackberry so can be emailed/called at any time during the day.

I don't get paid overtime due to my grade, however next grade is executive with a bigger salary and bonus so have to do my time if I am ever going to get that.

However I don't really report to anyone, and I can work from home whenever I need to so it has its unpaid perks that are useful as a father.

I just get paid for a basic 40 hrs nowadays gave up doing the overtime as it was getting in the way of life and I never felt the benifit of the extra money anyway. On average I proably only do about 25/30 hrs a week now but still get paid for the full 40 hrs which is awesome!!!!!

Fair play, Pete.
If you graft, it should all be worthwhile in the end.

My mate has just started a new job, carving chess pieces.
He said the money is great, but not the hours.
He's on permanent knights.
